Big boy underwear

So, Jackson decided on Thanksgiving morning that he wanted to wear his big boy underwear.  We've done a little bit of potty training here and there but Jackson has been a little afraid of wearing his underwear for any great length of time.  Considering all of the cooking and preparations going on that morning, we thought Thanksgiving wasn't the most convenient day to make another underwear attempt but since it was his idea, we thought we'd better run with it.  He had a few accidents (and tears) that morning but made it through the day with his big boy underwear.  Yesterday morning, he was ready to do it again.  He did it again today and we are so proud!  He only had one minor accident and even handled a 3 hour trip outside of the house.  Our friends, Rachel and Matt, were having their Christmas open house at their garden shop this afternoon and we headed over to get a Christmas wreath.  Jackson started doing a little pee-pee dance while there and the only potty available was their port-a-potty behind the greenhouse.  It was dark back there.  Really dark.  Rachel shined the flashlight for us but Jackson took one look at that big dark hole and said "No thanks, Mommy--no thank you--I don't need to pee-pee."  So we headed back to the shop where he proceeded to demonstrate the pee-pee dance again and said he needed to go to the potty.  Rachel graciously took us back there again and once again, Jackson chickened out.  So we told him he could try to pee-pee in the woods, which I thought would never happen and lo and behold--he did it!  He was so proud of himself!  We had a couple more stops to make before we went home and he told us again that he needed to go to the potty but managed to hold it until we got home.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

  1. I'm so proud of Jackson, that was the first thing he told me about on the telephone on Thanksgiving Day. He is probably past the most difficult part of training. What a break this will be for all of you. Don't cancel the Pamper delivery for a couple weeks, sometimes they will go back to their old habit for a few days. Jackson is asking for his underwear, this is so different, usually you have to argue to get them to accept-way to go Jackson.
