Before leaving for Lancaster County, we decided to spend a few hours in Valley Forge. Our hotel was only a couple of miles from the park. Jackson did really well while there. Little did we know, he was saving his meltdown for Miller's Smorgasbord in Lancaster County.

After leaving Valley Forge, we headed to Lancaster County. We did a little outlet shopping, checked into our hotel, and then headed to dinner at Miller's Smorgasbord. Jeremy was really looking forward to going there since it had always been his family's favorite restaurant in the area. Jackson was fine when we arrived at the restaurant but his mood quickly deteriorated. We soon found that we were "that" family with "that" child--the one that couldn't behave in a restaurant. I could see people sitting at other tables looking our way every time Jackson let out a squeal or cry. I'm sure I heard some of them making remarks about him. We did everything we could think of--brought out some of his favorite toys, let him play with our ipod--nothing worked. We ate what we could as quickly as possible so that we could make a quick getaway and then Jeremy saw something on the buffet that would change everything--waffles. Jeremy handed Jackson a waffle and he was instantly happy. I was also happy because that meant we had bought enough time for us to hit the dessert buffet. Jeremy saved the day!

ReplyDeleteJackson is just the cutest kid on the planet. And, don't get upset when he cries in a resturant, all the people around you did the same thing and their kids too. If they look unhappy they can always leave. I love the pictures, everyone is so neat.
